Getting Started with Escape Boat Club
Welcome aboard. If you’ve just signed up — or you’re still deciding whether to — this guide walks you through everything you need to know to get on the water with Escape Boat Club for the first time.
Step 1: Choose Your Membership
Escape Boat Club offers three membership tiers designed for different needs:
- Weekday Membership (£49/month) — Monday to Friday access, one booking every 14 days. Ideal if you want flexibility without the commitment of a full membership.
- Full Membership (£99/month) — Seven-day access with up to two future bookings at a time. Our most popular option for regular boaters.
- Pay As You Go (£35/trip) — No subscription required. Book individual trips when you need them.
Head to the pricing page to compare what’s included, then click Join the Club to create your account.
Step 2: Upload Your Certifications
Before you can make a booking, you’ll need to verify your on-the-water qualifications. Escape Boat Club requires:
- RYA Powerboat Level 2 as a minimum — this proves you can handle a powerboat safely in coastal waters.
- VHF Short Range Certificate (SRC) — required for all vessels with a marine radio, which all our RIBs carry.
Log in to your account, navigate to My Certifications, and upload clear photos or PDFs of your certificates. Our team will verify them within 24 hours on business days.
Don’t have your RYA PB2 yet? You can still browse the fleet and plan your trips while you work towards your qualifications. Check the knowledge base for recommended RYA training providers in Hampshire.
Step 3: Browse the Fleet and Book
Once certified, you’re ready to book. Head to the fleet browser to see available RIBs, their capacities, and real-time availability.
When choosing a time slot, keep in mind:
- Bookings open 30 days in advance.
- Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before departure for a full credit refund.
- Fuel is charged separately at marina rates — you’ll top up on return.
Select your boat, date, and time, confirm the booking, and you’re set.
Step 4: Your Pre-Departure Checklist
On the day of your booking, arrive at the marina at least 15 minutes early. You’ll complete a brief pre-departure inspection with our team, covering:
- Safety equipment check (lifejackets, flares, VHF radio, first aid kit)
- Engine and fuel level
- Weather and tide briefing
- Emergency contact logging
Once signed off, you’re free to head out. The Solent is yours.
